A week ago, we conducted an open AMA session with our CEO Dyma Budorin in which he described Hacken’s first reaction to the current situation in Ukraine. On 7 March, we organized our traditional weekly AMA session for Hacken Club Level 3 members on Discord. However, the information shared by Dyma is very valuable for the Hacken big family. That’s why we’ve prepared the recap of this session. You will find brief information on Hacken’s plans for the coming future, namely, details on Weld cards, the team’s relocation, our revenue in 2022, and our relationships with HAPI during this challenging period.

Q: Hey boss! Nice to see you with us. How are you? Are you busy as always?

A: I am ok. The amount of work is increasing, but it’s good. Today we are making final decisions on how we will work the next few months and year, in general. The decision is 95% finalized. We are going to move our headquarters to Lisbon. Me and some other execs will move to Austin, Texas.

Of course, the best place is Kyiv. The acceptance of the fact that we cannot come back to our homeland is quite painful. But we always see opportunities in any situation. The fact that we will temporarily reside in other countries is a trigger to do things that need to be done.

Q: Why are you going to separate the execs from the rest of the team? You will have to deal with a big time difference.

A: Moving to Austin will open lots of opportunities. Not all execs will move to the USA. Not all Hacken employees have such big salaries to live in the USA.

Main criteria for headquarters location are:

  • developed local crypto community
  • Tire1 potential partners
  • cost of living

Q: Lisbon is cheap, people speak quite good English. There are nice landscapes and a growing tech scene. It’s gonna be totally different from Kyiv, but, hopefully, you will eventually return.

A: Our team members have families they need to feed. Many women lost their jobs. So Lisbon sounds like a perfect fit. As for me — I must go to the USA and build relationships with Tier 1. With all the work we are doing now and the international community’s support, we will be in a good position.

Q: In a previous AMA it was mentioned that the R&D team was developing a new utility for HAI, some sort of security layer. Could you expand on this, how will it work, and how far are we? It was said before that we would have some news on that.

A: This is the most difficult question. Head of R&D didn’t go with us when we asked him. We started to hunt other tech people. The product vision is there.

Q: What’s the state of things with WELD? It seems that the team is still in Ukraine, meaning, probably holding a rifle. Is there any way Hacken can absorb the project and keep development going? I thought it was a very promising project and an amazing solution for crypto payments. The Hacken-designed weld card was a great idea. Maybe now it can be a true Hacken only card?

A: The Weld team is behind the Unchain fund. I have asked its CEO about the status of our cards. He has replied that everything is according to the plan. No delays.

Q: A few days ago you mentioned that you established a $250K fund to support Ukraine. Could you please explain if this fund is made of Hacken’s reserves. Or what is the source of money? In the latest infographic it is mentioned that “most” revenue is directed to this fund. So I can assume that the $250K fund comes from the Hacken’s revenue? Also, will there be a cap on this fund ? How will it work financially?

A: $150K were taken from our strongbox in Kyiv. We gave these money to a few volunteer groups. $100K is a fund that is managed by our CFO Iryna. So far we have spent 30k from it. Also I have donated my Tesla. I didn’t manage to sell it for HAI:). Our revenue is according to the plan. Up to date 2022 revenue is slightly above $2M. “Most” of the revenue was really bad wording. I missed that. Our team is preparing a big communication letter in which we will explain in more details our current status.

Q: Is there anything you can share on Hackless / Hacken collaboration? Hackless mentioned in UFI AMA that they had some discussions with Hacken.

A: Hackless is trying so hard to partner with us. I have already had discussions with Manu and Dennis about the Hackless case. If they give some really good benefits to HAI holders, then it will work. In the last communication, I told their founder the conditions that would be acceptable to us. After that he went silent.

Q: How is the situation with HAPI? Has the crisis in Ukraine united the teams or is there still a divide? For example, around farming (again).

A: HAPI team is now in Ukraine. The CEO is very actively volunteering right now. Yes, most of the fights are forgotten.

Q: Do you still reserve funds for price stabilization at $0.1 or will you transfer these assets to the Ukraine defense fund, to finance reconstruction and other expenses?

A: The last transfer to support the price was made a week ago, it was $100K. Obviously our and my personal latest communication didn’t get 100% support. And we see that some of the investors have sold. Right now we are establishing support at $0.05 with the task to MM to push it up 10% a day.

Q: (How) Will the team’s communication change after the feedback received in various channels, major investors selling out of fear and uncertainty, etc.?

A: Please don’t worry about the price. We will definitely return all positions. Right now, we need to structure the work properly, update the roadmap, and make VERY loud PR for disBalancer and HackenProof that are on the cyber warfare frontline and go with the proper deck to the USA.

Q: Does the move to Austin and Lisbon imply a ramping down of operations, visibility, and access to investors in Dubai?

A: Nothing will change compared to the time when we were in Kyiv. We will continue visiting Dubai for business purposes. What is more, we have hired a regional representative in Dubai. So, our presence there will only become stronger.

Q: How do you see your role on Twitter? Do you understand if investors feel that your personal statements can have a negative impact on Hacken confidence, eg when emotions come out more than corporate PR.

A: I understand the concerns of our investors. I agree that some tweets were controversial. But I think it is a bad practice to delete them. Right now every Ukrainian is using every chance to stop the war. And if some Ukrainians don’t do it, others see it. Please think about it from this perspective. I will be less aggressive, but I keep on sharing info from the cyber warfare front.

Another important point is our team. They expect such statements from me. The call to stop HackenAI in Russia and Belarus came from our blockchain security lead. The call is a wrong word, it was an ultimatum. My role is to balance between team, investors, clients, government, and Ukrainian society (which is huge). If some investors decide to exit, that’s their choice. But I am absolutely sure that very soon we will have a new big wave of supporters.

There is no reason for uncertainty. Hacken is moving towards achieving the targets specified for 2022 and reaching our key goal — becoming a leading Web 3.0 cybersecurity provider with a 20% market share. Right now all processes are running smoothly. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will soon release an official statement about our next steps.

Together we are power!
